In a visually overstimulated world, our senses remain ever-fascinated by the juncture between the known and the unknown. In a world of explanation, we still ask "do you believe in ghosts?"
This is a fascinating piece David. Up until about ten years ago I didn’t believe in ghosts but one day whilst out on a photography day we visited a very old graveyard. The entrance to the graveyard was up some steep stone steps through an archway and in front of us stood a creepy small building. The building was in the centre of the graveyard. I remember a sense of their being something there. I felt my chest tighten and a very strong sense of unease. We didn’t stay long and as soon as we exited via the same stone steps the feelings dissipated. I read afterwards that other people have experienced similar there. I’m certainly more open to the idea of there being ghosts among us now but I haven’t experienced anything since then.
Yes, I saw a ghost in our old house. A woman who lived there in the early 1900s.
And I’ve had unexplained or coincidental events. My great-grandma’s sister was a seer and I sometimes feel that I have inherited some of her intuitive skills.
Some of us are more in tune with an other dimension.
Such a thought provoking post. I think it is that unknown and lack of certainty that creates the tension, the whispers of fear. No wonder ghost stories are told around a fire. Safety in numbers maybe? I loved the beautiful poem, do write more 🌿
Thank you 🙏🌿 Yes, and I wonder if somehow, we need, sometimes even crave that tension? A sense of not having all the answers, but not wanting them all either ✨
I think I do.. I certainly believe in the potential. I haven't seen one myself, and confess I REALLY wouldn't want to, I would be terrified. However, I know plenty of people who have, and I certainly believe their stories. I very much admire those who speak of ghosts as an everyday occurrence with no fear whatsoever.
I loved this piece, David. I saw a ghost as a child, having been awoken one night by someone running up the stairs. It was dismissed by my parents at the time, no doubt to calm me, but years later my father confessed he had seen her too. I shall never forget it. I love Janet Baker, a peerless voice and such a lovely person too.
What a beautiful and immersive piece of writing David. Yes I believe in ghosts, I saw one when I was a child at the old cottage I lived in. I knew he was there as soon as we moved in but I didn’t see him till a year or so after. I’ve lived in three haunted houses now. It’s a thought provoking subject isn’t it. I’m quite glad we have the unknown.
Agreed on allowing ourselves space to experience simple moments. I definitely think this is a big part of creativity - allowing your mind to be bored and wander. Wonderful poem too 😊

I love that’s there’s still so much we don’t know and understand ✨

It’s really fascinating!
What a great piece of writing David. I'm definitely curious about spirits and have had quite a few encounters that are unexplainable.
Thank you 🙏🌿 Yes, I think there’s magic to be found in the unexplainable; it sparks our creativity and imagination ✨

It’s so interesting, isn’t it? I think I feel much as you do 🌿✨
Mmmm, Janet Baker's voice. Absolutely glorious. And ghosts? I'm not sure.
I quite like “I’m not sure” though; I think that’s the strange space between the known and the unknown - we’re allowed to be not sure ✨🌿

Definitely - I find the unknown strangely comforting ✨
Yes, me too.

Thank you 🙏🌿 Yes, mind wandering is so important.
