The Veetacore, the shining lifeblood of the people of Pelamar has exploded. Neglect and complacency has put their entire life and world into jeopardy. Sound familiar?
Love this, David. I was unfamiliar with this series, but the theme of good over evil, the quest being chosen and lived out through the efforts and perseverance of children, is one of my favorites. <3
A lovely walk down memory lane for me David ... Thank you ! I have memories of watching this at primary school and being completely swept up in it's magic and story. Thank you for the reminder ! 💕
“Life will test us, and there will be times when it feels like evil is winning. But a brighter world is always possible if we are willing to stay the course, to spread our wings, to join the quest, and to fly”. Ah, I love this so much 🩵
David, I have sat this morning, after a really difficult week, reading this with a big smile on my face. My sister and I absolutely loved/love Through the Dragon's Eye (although being a Geordie I have to say that Geordie Racer was the best Look and Read story - we still talk about them catching the baddies (who looked so much like my Granda's friend!!) on the Swing Bridge - spoiler alert if you haven't seen it!!)! We still talk regularly about things from the programme, much like a lot of people do with Friends references. We talk about Widge weather when the weather changes regularly, the Bog of Boris, Frug the caterpillar, and we found a little trellis type thing when we were clearing out my Granda's house a couple of years ago. My sister took it home and put her white hamster on it and sent a picture saying it was Rodey on the veetarod!! A couple of years ago when Loreen won Eurovision she had incredibly long nails - I photographed her on the TV and sent the picture to my sister of her side by side with Charn! 😂
They were absolutely brilliant programmes, well written stories, and clearly had a huge impact on us as you can tell! 😊
Kevin Whately will always be Spuggie's Da, no matter what he appears in! 😊
Thanks for the trip down memory lane and for making me smile this morning! 😊
Aww, that makes me so happy! I'm so glad that was a trip down memory lane for you. I share so many of the same memories - all friendly dragons will always be Gorwen. I loved Geordie Racer too. Mum and Dad lived in Newcastle for a year in 1980 so could remember a lot of the places. I remember asking to go there whilst on holiday so we could find some of the places featured in Geordie Racer. I've certainly got the book and a cassette of the songs, but not the videos...but then it's all on YouTube these days! Charn was terrifying - I don't know how we survived 😂 They were such important things in our childhood, and I don't you could ever recreate that in an education system as it is today.
Ah now I had a book called Nellie's Dragon so the female friendly dragons are called Gertrude.
My mam used to record the programmes each week for us to watch at school and so we still have them all on VHS!
Charn was definitely scary but Gorwen did such a good job!! 😂
We also watched Earthwarp but it was a few years after I think. I watched a few when my sister was watching them and she's a few years younger than me.
I'm an early years teacher and thanks to YouTube we often watch things from my childhood. We watch Come Outside with Auntie Mabel and Pippin, Rainbow, Puddle Lane and Rosie and Jim. My children are a bit young for Through the Dragon's Eye unfortunately. But some of the old programmes are just perfect to answer questions that the children have! 😊
It certainly is! You have to be very careful with some programmes - Rainbow particularly as there are a lot of doctored versions but it's lovely to be able to watch some of the older programmes again! 😊

Geordie Racer and Badger Girl are the two I really remember. I think we did do Through the Dragon's Eye but it's a bit of a blank tbh.
I loved Geordie Racer, but found Badger Girl a bit ‘dark’ so far as I remember 🦡
I think there was a fairground one too...?
I think there was 🤔
Isn't Google marvellous?! https://www.broadcastforschools.co.uk/site/Look_and_Read/Fair_Ground!
Ooh, I don’t think I remember that one!

Now we're all having a discussion about the old programmes! The other one that was really good was Spywatch! 😊
Oh yes, I vaguely remember that!
Ah now I had a book called Nellie's Dragon so the female friendly dragons are called Gertrude.

Rainbow is weird, even now 😂
😂 Definitely!
