The heaviness of winter lingered and we longed for the light refreshment of spring. But before long, the spring we craved so hard, will seamlessly fade into summer.
Roses are one of my favourite garden flowers. I have one growing over my archway, a David Austin one called Generous Gardener. I absolutely love its delicate pink colour and its scent. It's putting a gorgeous show on right now.
Interesting point about exhaustion being the result of not being aligned. I always find it odd that after a good nights sleep you can still feel tired on waking.
Lovely as always David 🌿I have struggled to let go of the winter heaviness too this year. I am only just about ready for true spring cleaning this week!
And I saw my first wild rose in the hedgerow today, magical.
It looks like our roses may bloom in another month, as a cold and wet spring lingered longer than necessary (and I say this as someone who loves nature!). Our entire village lost all the apple blossoms due to late frosts four mornings in a row, so there will be no apples this year, but we still have hope for our garden, which is going in late, but better late than never. The grass is waist-high, and hay will soon be made when the sun decides to shine once again. Thank you for sharing your beautiful images ♥
Gorgeous writing, as ever and I love your May reflections offset against the ghost of winter. One of my rose bushes is in full bloom but I planted three more and am just waiting for them to explode…🤞🏻
Thank you for sharing this. You capture so perfectly and beautiful that tension between moving towards light as we move through seasons but not being able to shake off what has come before.
David, this post is as so beautifully written, have you considered turning your writings into a book?
I’m wondering if you’ve heard of Human Design? It’s all about personal alignment and living with our true selves. It might be worth a look. There are websites that do free charts if you just type ‘human design’ in. I’ll try and remember the one I really liked.
Aww, thank you 🙏🌿 I’d love to write more - maybe a book (but about what?!) - but as ever, time, money etc. 😂 I’ve not come across human design - I shall look it up 🌱
Chronic fatigue can be tricky. Have you tried a magnesium supplement or even rubbing magnesium and lavender cream into feet before. I do both and I also take high dose vitamin d everyday. The combination of these small interventions stopped my chronic fatigue in its tracks. 🙏🏻

Beautifully written piece as always David 🙏
I think of our roses as all of our little friends 🌸 Thank you for reading 🙏🌱

I love the idea of the ‘ghost of winter’, I think that’s spot on ✨ Thank you for reading 🙏🌿

Thank you 🙏🌿 I think that ‘tension’ is a good word for it ✨

It could be snippets from your substack, make a lovely read when you need either a pick-me-up or confirmation that you’re not alone…
Maybe! 📚

I haven’t, but I’d try anything 😂 I’m never convinced by the daily multivitamin…
No me neither. Diet should take care of most of that. But we deplete is magnesium at breathtaking speed and we just don’t get enough sunny days.
My May has been very similar to yours, stepping out and willing to give it a go, no matter where it leads us!
Amidst the insecurities, it does feel strangely empowering 🙌🌿✨
