Quarterly Review | Q1 2025
With five Sundays in March, an extra post, as we begin to emerge from winter into the hopeful renewal brought by spring. It'll never be plain sailing, but there is joy, colour, and new life to come.
As I sit down at my desk to type this, the time is rapidly approaching 5:30pm, and there is still glorious sunshine streaming through the window. In just a few weeks, the clocks will change, and suddenly the evening light will return. After an intense downpour this afternoon, the skies are blue once more, a reminder that for all its ups and downs, spring feels close by. This is where
and I were standing, drinking in this early-spring view, about half an hour ago:Over the past couple of weeks, the air has been filled change. The earth is beginning to awake after its winter slumber, and with it comes the expectant hope of new life, rebirth, and renewal. After a long, grey winter, the warmth of the sun on our faces is nourishment for the soul.
In a few weeks, I’ll be celebrating my 1st Substack birthday (or anniversary?). What has touched me so much here, has been people’s generosity. The support and encouragement of each other is a joy to find, and such a cornerstone of any welcoming and nurturing community. I hope that here in this community, you’ve found a home; a home amongst kindred spirits, walking together, seeking deeper fulfilment on life’s journey. It is incredibly humbling that over 850 of you now subscribe to Rediscover · Reconnect · Re-Emerge. If you’d like to read a little bit more about my plans for 2025, the you might enjoy this post from early-February:
Embarking on Eudaimonia
With community has also come the great joy of collaboration, including this recent interview with
. As part of her Embarking on Eudaimonia series, that is, a journey towards living a life of fulfilment, purpose, and flourishing, it was a real pleasure to share something of my own journey through life as we all seek answers to some deep questions:Whether you’ve been part of this journey for a while, or if you’re new here, you’re very welcome. If you’d like to read about why I started Rediscover · Reconnect · Re-Emerge on Substack, then here is my very first post, recently updated:

This Creative Life
As we emerged from winter into spring, the beginning of March brought
’s beautiful This Creative Life to fruition. It’s a beautiful publication, full of deeply reflective writing on life, creativity, and our sense of place.

It was a great joy to contribute in a small way to this publication, especially alongside so many other wonderful (and far more famous!) creatives.

This edition of Inspirations & Connections proved to be my most popular post in the previous quarter. In it, I explore the concept of home and homecomings. It’s a fascinating topic in which we can all dig deep. If you missed it, catch up here:
Inspirations & Connections | XI. Homecomings
Where is home? Recently, I experienced a deep-seated and inextricable homecoming. It's in the blood, and wherever I turned, there were ghosts from the past, with their cheery greeting: "welcome home".
As we slowly peep behind the gateway to spring, its secrets yet to be discovered, it prompts us to think about those things which might contribute to our own homecomings yet to come.
Where might you find home in the season to come?
Thank you so much for sharing this journey with me, for all your likes, comments, shares, and recommendations, and I look forward to bringing you more thoughts and reflections in the months and seasons to come.

Beautiful photo!
Firstly, what a wonderful view you witnessed, both of you. I also want to say thank you so much for your support in my own new work. Wow! Lots of people subscribe. I hope to learn from you. I feel I am just trying to find my way and I'm not sure if what I am doing is what people want ( my subscribers have stalled somewhat) but I have full of hope in this lovely community that I know I am in the right place. Thank you for this lovely post about the emerging spring.
